Dr. Joachim Reimer appointed new CTO of FineCell Sweden AB

We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to our FineCell team – Dr. Joachim Reimer, our new Chief Technology Officer (CTO)! With a profound background in Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Joachim brings over 10 years of invaluable experience in both academic and industrial R&D. His expertise spans various domains, including bio- and petrochemicals, process development, safety engineering, and plant support. Prior to joining FineCell, Joachim served as the CTO at the bioenergy scale-up, C-Green, and contributed significantly as a Chemist at BASF. Joachim’s accomplishments extend to obtaining his PhD from the prestigious ETH Zürich, a testament to his dedication to advancing cutting-edge research and innovation. We are confident that Joachim’s exceptional skills and vision will be instrumental in driving FineCell’s technology and product development to new heights. FineCell’s new chapter

FineCell Sweden AB, the Swedish-based developer and producer of nanocellulose-based materials, has recently undergone a major reorganization to further strengthen its position as an innovator in the sustainable materials industry. As part of the reorganization, FineCell Sweden has announced the appointment of a new board and operation team, which brings a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise to the company. Leading the new executive team is CEO Mikael Uhno, a seasoned veteran with extensive experience in project management, engineering, procurement, and supply chain management. Mikael brings a strong track record of leadership and innovation to FineCell, and his extensive industry connections are expected to help the company expand its reach and customer base. The reorganization also includes the formation of a new operation team that will be responsible for developing and scaling up FineCell Sweden’s production capabilities. The operation team will work closely with the company’s R&D team to optimize the production process and ensure consistent product quality. The owners of FineCell have also appointed Eva Färnstrand as the new chairman of the board and added a new board member Fredrik Gellerstedt. Both have extensive experience in a range of areas, including business development, strategy, sustainable materials, and manufacturing. The new board is expected to provide valuable insights and guidance to the company as it continues to grow and expand. With a new board and operation team in place, the company is ready to meet the growing demand for sustainable materials and continue to innovate in this exciting field.

FineCell received 500 000 SEK project grant

FineCell has been granted 500 000 SEK by Vinnova (Sweden’s innovation agency) to support a collaborative innovation project “In situ fibrillation of nanocellulose for cost-efficient, and high performing lightweight composites“ between FineCell, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Örebro University, as well as a world-leading auto parts manufacturer. With this support, we will be able to develop cost-efficient, high-performance, and lightweight composites reinforced by our cellulose nanofibers that are made from our microfibers in the compounding process. FineCell received 3.5 million SEK project grant

FineCell has been granted 3.5 million SEK by Formas (Swedish research council for sustainable development) to support a collaborative research project “Design and development of recycled alternative to fossil-based plastic: towards a sustainable industry” between FineCell and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. With this support, we will be able to develop high-performance and recyclable composites based on recycled plastics and our cellulose micro-/nanofibers. See the details here.

FineCell closed a funding round

We are thrilled to announce that FineCell has closed a funding round with participation from KIRAM AB, GAEU Consulting, and EIT InnoEnergy. Earlier this year we also expanded our team with Peter Axegå rd as a shareholder and board member. Peter has long commercial and technical experience in sustainable materials which is greatly valuable to FineCell. With this funding, we will be able to continue our market penetration efforts and further validate the scalability of our production process. This is an exciting time at FineCell! We have an incredible team that has been devoting themselves to everything we do. We are incredibly grateful for having these new passionate partners joining us. Altogether we will be able to do something really meaningful for our environment and make an impact!

FineCell among the Nordic Top 50 Impact Companies

FineCell is one of the Nordic Top 50 Impact Companies for the year 2020, selected by The One Initiative. For over three years The One Initiative have studied more than 7,000 growth companies – startups and SME’s – in the Nordic region. The companies have been assessed on their commercial viability combined with their impact scalability – using The One Initiative’s Impact Business Score System. Today The One Initiative have over 1,000 Nordic impact companies in the database.
