A warm welcome to Beatrice, our newest colleague and a seasoned expert in cellulose chemistry! Beatrice’s journey in this field began with a master’s degree at KTH, where she delved into the intricacies of cellulose chemistry, even taking on a thesis project at McGill in Canada. She continued to expand her expertise with a Ph.D. at Chalmers in Gothenburg, focusing on the dissolution of cellulose. Beatrice’s journey with FineCell dates back to the early stages of our technology development in 2016 and 2017. Over the years, her valuable contributions have played a crucial role in shaping our innovative path. In the last year and a half, Beatrice collaborated with FineCell on a postdoc project, gaining an in-depth understanding of our processes and objectives. Now, Beatrice is officially joining us as a formal employee, bringing her wealth of knowledge and passion for cellulose to contribute to cutting-edge research and development. Her excitement is palpable as she looks forward to the dynamic journey of developing applications and bringing them to market. Join us in welcoming Beatrice to the FineCell family!

Two months after becoming a member of the Biorenewable Deployment Consortium (BDC), FineCell’s CEO Peter Axegård presented FineCell’s technology and products at the BDC Fall Forum on September 26 in Boston, Massachusetts. The BDC Fall Forum is an excellent event with a broad audience from over 50 companies interested in sustainable bio-based products and cutting-edge green technologies. FineCell successfully participated in the 2023 Sustainability Challenge by Evonik, Beiersdorf and Unknown Group and was honored to present as one of eleven selected from over 100 start-ups at the Sustainability Days in Hamburg on September 27 and 28. Both our CEO Peter Axegård and CTO Joachim Reimer attended the event with lots of fruitful discussions, networking, and deep insights into the need for bio-based raw materials in the skin care sector. Participating in events like this enables us to strengthen our application development together with industry partners. FineCell Sweden AB officially changed its legal name to FineCellOx AB as of November 1, 2023. The transition to the new name marks an exciting chapter for the company. Under the new name, FineCellOx AB has taken over all assets, personnel, the logo, website, and email addresses previously associated with FineCell. This change reflects the company’s commitment to continued growth and innovation in the industry. The ownership as of November 1, 2023, includes Professor Monica Ek, Dr. Peter Axegård, KIC InnoEnergy SE, KTH Holding AB, Kiram AB.

We are thrilled to introduce our new Development Engineer, Kristoffer Guthenberg! Kristoffer brings a wealth of expertise to our team with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in macromolecular materials from KTH. His previous role as a laboratory engineer at RISE equipped him with invaluable skills in addressing optimization challenges and problem-solving within pulp production industries. Kristoffer’s focus on organic chemistry, recycling cycles, and evaporation processes has been instrumental in his career. Kristoffer joins FineCell with a clear motivation – to be part of our remarkable journey from startup to scale-up. He is excited about contributing to the commercialization of potentially groundbreaking technologies and products that drive the much-needed green transition. Furthermore, Kristoffer is eager to take on challenging technical issues, and looks forward to personal and professional growth together with us. Welcome aboard, Kristoffer!

BDC’s mission is to support the Forest Products Industry by promoting the deployment of commercially viable advanced biofuels, biochemicals, and byproducts technologies, without the need for long-term subsidies. Their focus on optimizing efficiency ensures that we extract the utmost value from every tree. As a fact-based, trustworthy, and results-oriented international organization, BDC is dedicated to educating industry leaders and keeping them updated on cutting-edge technology, processes, and policies relevant to the deployment of advanced biorenewables. Boasting a diverse group of members including forest products, corn ethanol, biorenewable technology, construction, financial institutions, and universities, BDC fosters collaboration, brokering partnerships, providing vital information and education, identifying asset utilization opportunities, and leveraging available financial resources. FineCell’s CEO, Peter Axegård, holds a key position as an Advisory Board member of BDC and is excited to present at the BDC Fall Forum on September 26 in Boston.
